Subhash Ghai to give negatives of 23 films to NFAI

Mumbai, May 29, 2016: Ace filmmaker Subhash Ghai will hand over negatives of his 23 blockbuster films, including “Hero“, “Karz“ to name a few, for preservation purpose to National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission of Central government.

“While appreciating and extending his support to National Film Heritage Mission, an initiative of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting that aims at preserving and digitising the country's film heritage, Ghai announced today that he would provide 23 negatives of his films to NFAI for archiving and preservation purpose,“ said NFAI Director, Prakash Magdum.

Ghai was at the city-based NFAI to attend the closing ceremony of the film festival of the national award winning films.

Ghai said “This year It's great step by national film archive of india to include major films from mainstream cinema too n preserve n archive them for future references. N I happened to be first one.“.

Magdum said, “We are happy that Ghai has decided to provide his 23 films to NFAI for preservation and we appeal to all filmmakers and production houses to come forward and join hands with NFAI for saving our common heritage“.

The films, which will be given to NFAI, include superhits like “Karz“, “Hero“, “Karma“, “Ram Lakhan“, “Khalnayak“, “Saudagar“, “Taal“ and several recent movies.
